Description: | On Thursday 21st May Harvey’s Brass – featuring local jazz trombonist Mark Bassey – will be playing a varied programme of music at the Town Hall in Lewes. Harvey’s Brass was formed about five years ago consists of four trumpets, four trombones, French horn, tuba and percussion, under the musical direction of Steve McIntyre. They play a varied programme of music from the Renaissance through to the modern era and in a variety of styles. Mark Bassey who has made a name for himself locally with his jazz compositions and transcriptions in a typically individual style. Mark has been described as “a superb, witty player” by Dave Gelly, Mark is also heavily involved in jazz education and teaches composition at many London colleges including The Royal Academy and the Trinity College of Music. With the backing of Harvey’s Brass you can expect some ‘different’ sounds and experiences not to be missed, and Mark is greatly looking forward to the link up.
