Description: | Perotin and Leonin are the great, named composers of this school of music which was centred around Paris at the turn of the C.12th to C.13th. The music is all based upon plainchant for which an extra choir of singers who attended the Festival Workshop Weekend will be used. The polyphony is performed by the members of the Orlando Consort as soloists. Formed in 1988, the Orlando Consort rapidly achieved a reputation as one of the most expert, innovative and consistently challenging groups performing repertoire from the years 1050 to 1500. The group has made many commercial recordings with Saydisc, Metronome and the Deutsche Grammophon label 'Archiv', plus frequent appearances at the Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room in London and at festivals across Europe, the US, South America and Japan. |
