Description: | Debbie Diamond, violin; Sarah Moffat, violin; Francisco del Amo, viola da gamba; Martin Knizia, harpsichord Exploring the development of the violin as a virtuoso instrument, this programme concentrates on works by German and Austrian composers of the 17th century. It also celebrates the 300th anniversary of the death of Heinrich Biber. Since being finalists in the 1999 York Early Music Network Competition, the Sweelinck Ensemble has gone on to build a growing reputation as one of the most talented young ensembles in the early music world. The group has performed at many major venues, as well as being broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and throughout Europe on the station Euroclassic Notturno. |
