| Description: | Our ‘Winter Romances’ afternoon concert includes: Mussorgsky - Night on a Bare Mountain Shostakovich - Piano Concerto No. 2 (soloist - Yoko Ono) Sibelius - Symphony No. 1 Between Mussorgsky’s portrait of devil worship on a witches sabbath and Sibelius’s brooding, passionate 1st symphony, the orchestra are joined by the very popular Brighton-based pianist Yoko Ono for Shostakovich’s effervescent 2nd Piano Concerto - originally written as a birthday gift for his 19 year old son. An enjoyable afternoon of musical entertainment for all. |
