Description: Purcell - 'Come, ye Sons of Art'

Purcell - 'O, sing unto the Lord a new song'

Hastings Philharmonic Choir has begun rehearsals for its next concert – an evening of beautiful music, much of it composed for and used on Royal occasions. Purcell's 'Come ye Sons of Art' was the centrepiece of Queen Mary's birthday celebrations in 1694, and Handel's well known Coronation Anthems were composed for the coronations of George II and Queen Caroline.

Directing his final concert with us, Hilary Davan Wetton will conduct a Baroque orchestra - similar to that which performed with us in last November’s glorious 'Messiah' – along with the choir and soloists.
