Description: ANNE ALLEN quickly became recognised as an exciting young flautist, graduating from Cambridge University and the Royal Northern College of Music with Distinction. She has performed solo concerti with orchestras including the BBC Concert Orchestra and in venues as prestigious as The Royal Albert Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, St Martin in the Fields and the Cadogan Hall in London. Internationally she has played in Europe, the Far East, Africa, Russia, South America and Australia.

Anne has won many prizes; she was chosen as an ‘outstanding’ winner of the Computers in Personnel International Concerto Competition and won Norfolk Young Musician of the Year and was a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Musician of the Year. Anne was chosen as one of six musicians to be part of Blackheath Concert Halls Young Artists’ Platform. She has also performed on Radio 2, Radio 3, Classic FM, BBC TV, ITV and Sky TV. Anne was recently seen playing in an episode of Midsummer Murders and on Britain’s Got Talent!


As a chamber musician Anne plays for a variety of occasions from parties and weddings to corporate events. Clients range from members of the Royal Family to large multi-national companies. Highlights in this side of her career have been performing for the President Reagan Trust Dinner, the Queen and the Beckhams!


CHARLES MATTHEWS studied at the Royal College of Music, London, and was an organ scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge. His teachers have included Beryl Tichbon, Gwilym Isaac, David Pettit, Patricia Carroll, Nicholas Danby, Charles Spinks and Dr. Richard Marlow.
Charles pursues a varied international career as pianist, organist and harpsichordist, broadcasting on radio and television and performing across Europe, Asia and America, as well as in prominent British venues such as Wigmore Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, the South Bank and Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
Engagements have included solo piano performances in the U.K. and Spain, as well as duo recitals with flute, recorder, clarinet, ‘cello and voice. Organ performances include concerts in Austria and Norway with the Spire organ and electronics project.
Charles has won numerous awards, most notably first prize in the 1999 Franz Liszt Interpretation Competition in Budapest. His most recent solo recording is of Francis Routh's cycle The Well-tempered Pianist and in 2006 a collection of Charles’s compositions for flute and piano was published by Schott.

The Romantic Flute, a CD of relaxing flute & piano favourites, was released recently by Anne & Charles to great reviews. It is available to buy or download on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp.
