Title: 'Unsung Heroine' - The Telling
Promoted by: The International Interview Concerts
Time: Sunday, 13 October 2019, at 6:15pm
Place: St Paul's Worthing, Worthing
Description: Another of the several acclaimed recent Early Music biographical ‘concert-dramas’ created by playwright and singer Clare Norburn.
Following her ‘Vision’ at St Paul’s in March showcasing the first known female composer Hildegard of Bingen, ‘Unsung Heroine’ constructs the 12th century Provençal story of Beatriz de Dia, the first known woman troubadour – or singer-songwriter in today’s language!
Norburn’s London-based international Medieval group, The Telling, comprise actress Anna Demetriou in the title role, Norburn singing, and instrumental experts Joy Smith and Giles Lewis providing harp and percussion, medieval bagpipes and fiddle. Plaintive balladeering and romping dance music with direction by Nicholas Renton (TV, movies), lighting by Natalie Rowland.
