Time: | Monday, 29 April 2024, at 7:30pm |

Description: | The six Brandenburg Concertos are considered to be amongst the pinnacle of Baroque composition. Each one uses a different combination of instruments and shows off different musical styles popular during Bach’s lifetime, from the French minuet to the counterpoint for which the composer himself is so well known. This concert will also feature performances of Bach's Coffee Cantata BWV 211 (featuring Harriet Cameron, James Quilligan and Ben Thapa) and Handel's Eternal Source of Light Divine. British conductor and harpsichordist Jack Gonzalez-Harding directs a team of world-renowned period soloists including Piers Adams (recorder), Julia Bishop (violin) and Daniel Swani (flute) in this performance of J. S. Bach's great secular works. The same musicians will perform the other three Brandenburg Concertos at a separate concert on Tuesday 30 April. |
